84 ΒΌ” h. x 36″ w. x 20″ d.

Provenance: Jay & Anne Whipple, Lake Forest, IL

A unique and possibly singular Shaker form most likely from the Maine Bishopric. Leveraging vertical space, this Secretary Desk is comprised of three, stacking components. First, a lower case of two drawers with brass escutcheons and turned fruitwood knobs elevated on square, tapering legs with a folding, expandable work surface reinforced by pull-out supports. A central cupboard with brass pull and interior compartments. And, an upper cabinet with an additional sliding, expandable work surface and interior compartments. The piece is topped with an applied molding.

In a very fine state of preservation, this Secretary Desk retains its original red paint and varnish surface.
