A rare, Oval Shaker Table with Single Drawer from the Hancock, Massachusetts, Shaker community, purchased by Robert and Hazel Belfit from Sister Mary Dahm (1883-1965). The Belfits recorded:

“We had tea with Sister Alice Smith. This table was covered with a black and white linen kerchief – … tea set and a bouquet of purple asters. We now own the kerchief and part of the tea set. Mary Dahm saved the kerchief and tea set for us – after we had told her about the tea party.”

The cherry top is secured to the skirt with square pegs. The single drawer is dovetailed with a molded lip and an original turned-hardwood knob. This table is one of only three of this form known today.
